This is due to the fact that the complexity of the software allows a wide array of options to control object visibility, to the point that tracking down an element may become a daunting and time consuming task.<\/p>\n<p>To aid our clients, we developed <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a>, a plugin for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/revit\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revit\u00ae<\/a> that will perform automated tests to help you find your missing elements with one click!<\/p>\n<div class=\"toc\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#what-is-holmes\">What is Holmes?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#using-holmes\">Using Holmes<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#selected-element-a\">Selected element (a)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#where-is-it-hidden-b\">Where is it hidden? (c)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#conclusion\">Conclusion<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-holmes\">What is <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a>?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a> is a plugin for <a href=\"https:\/\/autodesk.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Autodesk<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/revit\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revit\u00ae<\/a> that performs automated tests to detect why an element is not visible in one or more views.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"using-holmes\">Using <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>After downloading and installing the plugin, simply select the missing element in any other view in which it&rsquo;s visible and click on the <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a> button, located in the Camilion ribbon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"en_holmes_00.png\" src=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/en_holmes_00.png\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>In our example, we see that certain furniture elements shown in view <code>Level 1<\/code> are not visible in the views <code>Level 1_COO<\/code>, <code>Level 1_MEP<\/code>, <code>Level 1_STR<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"en_holmes_01.png\" src=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/en_holmes_01.png\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>To find out why the visibility is impaired, we simply select one of those elements (one of the tables in our case) and click on the <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a> button.<br \/>\nA dialog box containing three sections is displayed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"en_holmes_02.png\" src=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/en_holmes_02.png\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"selected-element-a\">Selected element <code>(a)<\/code><\/h3>\n<p>This first section contains generic information about your selected element such as the element&rsquo;s Name, Category and Id.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"where-is-it-hidden-b\">Where is it hidden? <code>(b)<\/code><\/h3>\n<p>The second section shows the list of views where that element is hidden.<br \/>\nClicking on any of these views updates the third section and shows a message which solves the mystery. <em>Elementary, my dear Watson!<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Note: Clicking on the <code>Show all views<\/code> checkbox will display all the views in the project where the visibility checks were run.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"why-is-it-hidden-c\">Why is it hidden? <code>(c)<\/code><\/h3>\n<p>This section displays a message indicating why the element is hidden in the previously selected view. Currently, version 1.0 of the plugin contains 13 tests which are performed to detect hidden elements.<\/p>\n<p>Continuing on with our example, we sequentially click on the three views that interest us and get the following messages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code>Level 1_COO<\/code>: <em>A filter applied on the view is hiding the element<\/em><\/li>\n<li><code>Level 1_MEP<\/code>: <em>Workset is hidden in the view<\/em><\/li>\n<li><code>Level 1_STR<\/code>: <em>The element is outside of the view range<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this information at hand, we can now activate the visibility of the filter applied on the first view, show the workset on the second view and change the view range of the third view.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"en_holmes_03.png\" src=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/en_holmes_03.png\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Clicking on <code>Show all tests performed<\/code> checkbox will display all tests performed for that element.<\/p>\n<p>Tests displayed in bold indicate the test did not pass and the element is not visible in that view.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"conclusion\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Weather you&rsquo;re a seasoned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/revit\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revit\u00ae<\/a> <em>connoisseur<\/em>, a BIM Manager or a student, <a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Holmes<\/a> is a valuable tool that will help you save both time and neurons so you can dedicate your hours to more meaningful tasks than finding hidden elements.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/camilion.eu\/en\/apps\/Holmes\/\">Download it for free<\/a> and give it a try!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most common problems <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/revit\/overview\">Revit\u00ae<\/a> users have is that one or more elements are mysteriously missing in a specific view.
