AutoCAD: bind mode explained
As expert users of Autodesk® software like AutoCAD®,
we sometimes receive very specific questions or requests from our clients.
One of the most recent ones has been related to external reference management and
the differences between the bind
modes in AutoCAD software, particularly,
how one of our apps: RefMan interacts with that.
When we discovered that the problem of our client came from a lack of understanding of the process,
we decided to document it and explain it for whoever is interested.
AutoCAD: a thousand binds with RefMan
When working with Autodesk® AutoCAD® software,
it still happens that sometimes you just have to get rid of External References in a project.
Reasons vary, but there are plenty:
the drawings have to be imported to a software that does not support External References,
the contract specifies that delivered files can’t contain external references,
contractors ask for a single file, …
In this entry, we explain how to use RefMan to quickly Bind or get rid of all External References in a project, no matter how big it is; while making it easy to keep working with External References.
AutoCAD: purge obsolete External References with RefMan
When working with Autodesk® AutoCAD® software and External References,
it might happen that things move around and not all DWG® files are updated.
This can happen because of contract requirements of file versioning, merging or splitting data across
different references, adapting a standard to the realities of the project, …
In this entry, we explain how to use RefMan and its quick overview to avoid or
detect and correct early that situation.
As usual, we treat projects as if they had hundreds or a thousand files, but this is also applicable to
projects with a smaller file count.
AutoCAD: External Reference overview and path update with RefMan
If you work with Autodesk® AutoCAD® software in large projects,
you probably use External References.
But precisely in large projects, managing those references can be a time drain.
Which is why we added RefMan as one of our apps.
RefMan allows you to manage External References in projects with hundreds
or even thousands of DWG® files.
In this entry, we explain how to use RefMan to quickly have an overview of all
External References and whether or not they are correctly set up and how to
fix things quickly when they aren’t perfect.
